I should probably give some background information..I'm Lindsey, I'm 19, and I do gymnastics on the back of a horse. I"ve done just about every sport a kid can do throughout my life..I stuck with gymnastics the longest though. I started that when I was 3 and continued with it every year until I was 12, but took the summers off because our gym didn't have air conditioning and it was disgustingly hot. Anyway, a lady that my mom has known forever introduced me to vaulting in 2002 and there's been no looking back. Now 8 years later I'm competing at the top level.
Every 4 years the World Equestrian Games are held..They're basically the olympics for horse sports. Earlier this year, around February, I applied to be on the Friendship Vaulting Team. The team does demonstrations at large events and has vaulters from across the country participate. At the beginning of July I received a letter saying I had been accepted and that the team would be doing performances at the huge event in September. So as of this weekend I have now booked my flight and a hotel for my mom to stay in while we're there. We just need to reserve a car and continue fundraising to cover my expenses. This is such a great opportunity and I'm very excited.
